Three Ways to Send Custom Text Messages
Via E-mail
Sending text messages to your digital phone is just as easy as sending a standard E-mail message. Here's al there is to it:
Enter the 10-digit mobile number in the "address" field followed by "@airtouch.net" (example 8105551212@airtouch.net). To send text messages to multiple digital phone users, type the preceding address information for each individual user, separating the addresses with a comma.
Enter up to 139 characters of text in the "message area of your E-mail program (an additional 21 characters are used in the "from" field when the message appears on the digital phone's display).
Send E-mail as you normally would.
Via the World Wide Web
You can send text messages from a page on the Verizon Wireless Web site. Here are four simple steps to follow:
Using a Web browser, log on www.airtouch.net.
Enter the recipient's 10-digit mobile number into the field provided.
Enter a text message of up to 160 characters.
Send text message by clicking on the SEND button.
Using Customized PC software
You can send text messages or forward your E-mail from a PC or laptop using customized messaging software called AirSource®. AirSource® software contains administrative functions for tracking, logging, and storing messages. This software can be used as a scheduling tool to remind you of important meetings, appointments, or birthdays. In addition, AirSource® contains a sophisticated address book for large distribution lists.
To use AirSource® text messaging software, you will need:
Windows® 95/98/ME, Windows® NT/2000, Windows® for Workgroups, or Windows® 3.1
IBM, or compatible, 386 or higher
6MB of available hard disk space
Hayes™ or compatible modem

Software Settings:
Various types of alphanumeric paging software will also work in most cases. If it is configured properly and supports TAP (telocator alphanumeric protocol).

Modem Settings:
9600bps (most speeds will work, but this is the recommended setting)
Even parity
7 Data bits
1 Stop bit
