Is there a way to connect all of the phones
in my house?
The standard ATA has one phone jack that can supports one phone. You
could buy a multiple analog jack extension connector and plug it
into the ATA phone jack. This connector would allow you to use up to
three phones on a single Quick VoIP line. Another alternative is to
use a cordless phone system. These phone systems come with a base
unit and extra handsets. The base station of the cordless phone
plugs into the ATA. The extra handsets can then be placed anywhere
in the house. You could also purchase wireless phone jacks. The base
unit of the wireless phone jack system connects to the ATA and the
wireless jacks plug into your household electrical outlets. You can
then connect the phone to the wireless jack.
NOT RECOMMENDED: Some people disconnect the
phone company from their house and then connect our box into one of
the outlets in their house, thus powering all of the other outlets.
If you try to do this, please make sure that the phone company is
COMPLETELY disconnected (and stays disconnected) before connecting
us, otherwise you will damage your ATA box. This is a problem if you
are using DSL, since your broadband service comes in over your
existing phone lines.
If you are unsure of what you are doing, please contract with a
licensed wiring technician.
What should I do if my VoIP service stops
working?
First, check all your wiring. Is the ATA unit’s power cord plugged
into an electrical socket. Is you phone plugged into the ATA. Is the
RJ-45 broadband cable plugged into the ATA and the router. If all
the wiring appears to be correctly attached, proceed to our second
trouble shooting step.
Second, if the First step doesn’t work, unplug the power source to
your ATA and wait 30 seconds and then plug the power source back in.
This causes the ATA to “reset” itself and “re-register” onto our
network. Please allow approximately a minute for the connection to
completely reset itself before attempting to use the phone.
Third, please refer to the owners manual for the ATA you are using
and make sure the IP settings are correct. Each ATA has a separate
procedure you need to follow, so please check the manual and/or our
online manuals for assistance.
Fourth, if all else fails, please call us at 1-800-GOQUICK
(1-800-467-8425) and we’ll be happy to try and assist you.
